118 West 3rd Street

Currently, and since 1983, the home of Bleecker Bob's Records, 118 West 3rd Street was once the home of the Night Owl Cafe...When I worked at Bleecker Bob's in the 80's, it took me a while before I figured out the hallowed ground we walked upon. For a few minutes in the mid 60's it was the launching pad for several hugely successful bands that bridged the gap between the folk & psychedelic schools such as the Blues Magoos, and the Lovin' Spoonful. Especially the Lovin' Spoonful. The last track on their 1965 debut album was a little blues instrumental dedicated to their stomping grounds..."Night Owl Blues."
